.Sometimes a breeder will keep a pup to 'grow it out' to better evaluate its show prospect potential and then decide that the pups may not be what the breeder was looking for. It doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the pup or that it is substandard. Indeed breeders often wind up placing show prospects in 'family' homes to ensure they get the love and attention they need. Let me be clear because I get phone calls thinking these dogs are of less value...they are not. They provide greater value. They've had more than one health check; had the requisite 4 tests done recommended by AKC and our parent club; perhaps has even gone in the ring a few times. They are usually leash trained; well socialized to be around people and will adjust to house-breaking in their new homes within a short period of time...this is their value. So Check back frequently to see what might have become available.
